Off the floor, out of the way
Most bikes live leaning against a wall, resting on the rear derailleur or the brake lever, slowly scuffing the paint on both the bike and whatever it is leaning on. A stand solves that for very little money.
It also keeps the tyres off a concrete floor, which matters more here than people realise — cold concrete and damp are not kind to rubber over months.
